The new event quest titled Bloodsport will net you some awesome rewards, at the price of squaring off with a Diablos and an Uragaan at the same time.

Lets just say, the gunlance isn't really gone.

You get the incomplete plans for a weapon that highly resembles the original sanctioned gunlance from earlier titles, complete with its deep blue barrel and framework and the gold trimmings to boot. Save for this time around it has an actual hammer.

5 incomplete plans, 5 firestones and some other part I cannot recall will net you this masterpiece of a fire based lance.

That quest is a pain in the ass,  you need anouther 6 to make the upgraded version
