I know MHSantos039 has done guides on most of the Tri monsters, but I just need a heads up on Great Jaggi.
I can get the quest (Finally got to 2* Offline), I just need a heads up. So, below I will post my equipment:
¤ Hunter Knife (Starter SnS)
¤ Iron Sword (Starter GS)
¤ Full Piscine Armor w/o Ugraded Def
¤ Pawn Charm - Auto Guard
I can upgrade my weapons, and I can upgrade my armor; but only a little bit.
Oh yeah - I've got like 19950z or something, but that is because I haven't really buy anything.

First off, use whatever your better with for weapons. for armor, that's much better then what i had for Great Jaggi, and should last you probably until you get to Barroth. Don't upgrade it, save all your jewels for later on in the game. Auto-Guard was a big help, for a while. Goodluck, and happy hunting.

Well, about ten minutes after posting I went to do the quest with my SnS + Piscine Armor + Pawn Charm, and I killed it first time, without dying in about twenty minutes, then I did the capture quest in roughly the same time.
Just got to do 'Shakakala Savior!' then it's hello Cha-Cha, hello Switch Axe!

He's really easy! I killed him first time with hammer, and no armour at all! Then I made full Jaggi armour set Cheesy And I got the SnS too, but only the first version methinks. I prefer the hammer. I am currently on the cha-cha thing too!

Nice! I found him a bit challenging; I ran out of healing items. What I did was I smacked it with my shield to Stun it, broke it's frills, then injured it until it slept. From there I woke it, did some damage, left the area, rinse and repeat. That was how I finished.

Eventually you can absolutely dominate Great Jaggi's. There was an event quest for killing 4 of them and me an another hunter took em all out in a really short time.
